Ground Breaking Ceremony at Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation
Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce held a Ground Breaking Ceremony on October 29 to commemorate the beginning of construction on a 5-bedroom home on Farm Road. Habitat Grey Bruce and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation were both present to celebrate shovels in the ground with the latest Habitat family.

Ground Breaking Ceremony at Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation
On October 24, Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce held a Ground Breaking Ceremony to mark the start of construction on a new single dwelling home by Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce on Farm Road in Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation. Housing Manager Sarah Chegahno, Habitat Executive Director Greg Fryer and Construction Manager Matt Bryan officially launched the Build with shovels in the ground with the newest Habitat family.

On August 29, 2024, Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce held a “Welcome Home” celebration for Don and Angie and their 2 children who are purchasing a home in Wiarton. 

 

Aspire Youth Skills Training Program

Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce hosted youth from across Grey and Bruce in Aspire, our unique skills training program. This program was made possible with the support of Habitat for Humanity Canada’s Every Youth Initiative Grant Funds and the generous financial support of Scotiabank. 
 
Habitat Grey Bruce Welcomes 2 Families in Hanover
On June 28, 2024, Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce held a “Welcome Home” celebration with 2 families who are purchasing homes in Hanover. These houses were constructed in 2014 as part of an eight-unit condominium.

$62,800 Capital grant helps with the successful launch of a Critical Repair Program through Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce with Saugeen Ojibway Nation
MPP Rick Byers formally congratulated Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce on the work that’s happened as a result of receiving a $62,800 Capital grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation in 2023. The grant facilitated the purchase of a dedicated vehicle for delivering critical repairs to member families of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation.

Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce celebrated our long-time volunteer Gary Varsava who has volunteered for over 1000 Build Days with our organization. Gary has worked on 63 Builds during his time volunteering with Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce and has given his time to help with renovating 4 Habitat ReStores and our head office in Springmount. Gary has made such a positive impact to Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce and for our community.
 

Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce kicks off national student writing contest! 

Help Habitats across Canada reach national goal of 15,000 student submissions! Students in grades 4, 5 and 6 are invited to share what home means to them in an annual national writing contest that is now open and accepting entries. With submissions being accepted by mail or online at meaningofhome.ca until February 23, 2024, every student who enters the contest will help Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce build safe and affordable homes.
 

100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce Donate $24,000 to the Tiny Homes Project in Saugeen First Nation

A $24,000 donation from 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce will support the Tiny Home Project, which will serve as an emergency shelter for individuals and young families in Saugeen First Nation.
 

Saugeen First Nation Home Dedication

Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce celebrated 5 new Habitat homeowners in Saugeen First Nation on Eagle Street and French Bay Road! The dedication ceremony was held on December 16, 2023 at the James Mason Memorial Cultural & Recreational Centre with tours of the new Habitat homes following the celebration.

Westlake Royal Building Products™ Partners with Habitat for Humanity® Grey Bruce to Build Homes in Saugeen First Nation

WOODBRIDGE, ON – Together with Habitat for Humanity Grey BruceWestlake Royal Building Products announced an instrumental nationwide partnership to provide Westlake Royal siding products and materials for seven new homes in Saugeen First Nation in Southampton, Ontario, Canada. These are the first seven homes that are part of a greater partnership with Habitat for Humanity Canada in which Westlake Royal has committed to donate materials for ten homes per year.
