What is a ReStore?
Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce owns and operates three ReStore outlets in the region. A ReStore is a retail store concept that accepts donations of overstocked, seconds, used, discontinued items and salvageable building materials donated by manufacturers, stores, contractors and individuals. Items can include new and gently used furniture, building materials, appliances, cabinetry, sinks, countertops, household and décor items. The ReStore then sells those items to the public at a reduced cost, typically 50-80% percent off the original retail value.
Your donation makes a difference:
When you donate products or home building materials to a ReStore or even shop at a ReStore to furnish or renovate a room, you may not know it, but your action has a profound impact in helping Habitat for Humanity GB achieve their mission. Habitat GB builds and sells simple, decent, affordable homes for working families living in need at a rate they can afford.
Your support through a ReStore allows Habitat GB to use 100% of cash donations toward physically building homes.
Volunteer at the ReStore
Do you enjoy shopping? Fixing things? Hanging out in the local hardware store? Combine your passions into a volunteer position at a Habitat Grey Bruce ReStore! When you help the ReStore, you help your community. Income from the ReStores pay for 100% of our administration costs so every dollar donated goes directly to building homes.
The ReStore changes every day and tasks will vary depending on the days challenge. Volunteers will work with staff to prioritize tasks and choose assignments that match your skills and abilities. The ReStore staff will provide safety training and supervision for all volunteer positions. To get started click here for an online registration form, then drop in to your local ReStore and let them know you are willing to help.
