Congratulations to the 2025 Habitat Grey Bruce homeowners in Saugeen First Nation

 

A groundbreaking ceremony was held to commemorate the newest Habitat Grey Bruce homeowners and break ground on five new Habitat homes on French Bay Road. 

“These smiles on your faces… I’m extremely excited for all of you and look forward to the day we can celebrate when you all move in! We couldn’t do it without the support of volunteers from Habitat.” Jon van Oostveen, Saugeen First Nation Housing Manager. 

“We are so excited that you have this opportunity to have a new home here in Saugeen First Nation. These five Habitat homes will make twenty-one new Habitat houses build in Saugeen First Nation. ” Greg Fryer, Habitat Grey Bruce Executive Director. 

 

Bruce Power supports Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce
Campaign – Building for Impact

 

On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, Bruce Power attended a cheque presentation to commemorate Bruce Power’s $150,000 contribution to Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce’s Building for Impact campaign. The funds will support the construction of eight new townhomes in Owen Sound, scheduled to break ground in late 2025. 

 

Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce Signs Memorandum of Understanding with the Town of Saugeen Shores and Wilson Developments to Provide Affordable and Attainable Housing in Port Elgin

 

Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce is pleased to announce that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Town of Saugeen Shores and Wilson Developments to provide attainable and affordable homes in Port Elgin. The MOU provides a framework for a Public-Private partnership to collaboratively investigate and work towards an agreement to build 28 townhouse units on town-owned land south of Concession Road 10.

 

Long-time Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce Volunteer, Gary Varsava, Received the King Charles III’s Coronation Medal

 

Gary Varsava, a long-time volunteer of Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce, was awarded the prestigious King Charles III’s Coronation Medal in recognition of his outstanding volunteer efforts. The medal is presented to only 30,000 people across Canada and recognizes those who have made a significant contribution to their community. 
 

Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce honoured to be part of new partnership with the Town of Saugeen Shores and Wilson Developments.

Executive Director Greg Fryer had this to say about the initiative:
“Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce is thrilled to be partnering with the Town of Saugeen Shores and Wilson Developments to implement an unique affordable housing model in Port Elgin. Our hope is that this will serve as a template that will be replicated not only throughout Grey and Bruce but in other municipalities across Ontario.”
 

Bruce Power announces more than $1.35 million in support of local affordable housing initiatives

Bruce Power is providing more than $1.35 million to support affordable and attainable housing initiatives in Bruce, Grey and Huron counties. Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce will receive $150,000 for up to eight residential units it is building on Owen Sound’s east side in 2025. The homes will be sold to qualifying families.
