Position Overview

 

Understanding of and passionate about the mission, vision and values of Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce (HFHGB), the Resource Coordinator is responsible for carrying out a variety of duties with the Resource Manager including coordinating volunteer management, donor engagement and grant writing.

 

This position is critical for assisting in all resource development activities and ensuring all related administrative tasks are done in an organized and efficient manner that reflects the tone and essence of HFHGB’s mission, vision and values.

 

The Resource Coordinator reports directly to the Resource Manager and gives support to the Management Team and volunteers.

 

Areas of Responsibilities

 

Resource Development

  • Work with the Resource Manager to solicit new sources of funding
  • Understand grant writing and actively pursue additional grants
  • Work with the Resource Manager to maintain a list of individual donors
  • Work with the Resource Manager to steward existing relationships
  • Maintain Build GIK records

 

Marketing and Communications

  • Maintain and keep the HFHGB website current
  • Seek out opportunities to speak to groups about HFHGB and volunteer opportunities
  • Assist with hosting Team Build Days on the Build site

 

Volunteer Engagement, Recognition and Data Management

  • Design and implement volunteer recruitment strategies in conjunction with HFHGB’s marketing and promotion plan
  • Coordinate and implement various recruitment events in the community; follow-up inquiries
  • Update Volunteer Handbook
  • Oversee the recognition program for all volunteers; this will include providing support for organizing and implementing volunteer recognition events/activities
  • Oversee the tracking of all volunteer numbers and hours served
  • Prepare monthly report of volunteer statistics and maintain volunteer database

Build Committee Formation

  • Coordinate lists of potential volunteers for each Committee
  • Recruit volunteers to serve on a Committee
  • Orient volunteers in their roles and provide support as needed
  • Prepare revisions to Committee Manuals as required

Other

  • Work with the Resource Manager and receive ongoing training as required
  • Represent HFHGB at community events as required
  • Attend Management Team meetings
  • Maintain Volunteer sections of web page and social media

 

Required Education, Skills, Knowledge and Experience

 

Education, Skills and Knowledge

  • Post-secondary education with a focus in social sciences, human resources, community development, adult education and/or Volunteer Management
  • Strong computer skills including Web page maintenance, MS Office
  • Understanding of and proficient with current social media platforms
  • Superior organizational and planning skills having a meticulous work ethic and ability to attend to details
  • Ability to multi task with changing priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team that includes co-workers and volunteers
  • Ability to solve problems: Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem
  • Well-developed spoken and written skills
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and unexpected shifts in priorities
  • Knowledge of current trends, resources and information related to volunteerism
  • Knowledge of the management of volunteer resources
  • Pleasant and professional conduct
  • Valid driver’s license

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of recruiting, supervising and coordinating volunteers or other management experience

preferably with a non-profit, charitable organization and/or 3 to 5 years fundraising and grant writing experience

 

Requirements

  • Full Time position 40 hours per week
  • Work schedule is weekdays with occasional evening and weekend work
  • The work location is Owen Sound
  • Occasional travel
