BUILD SITE VOLUNTEER Our homes are built almost entirely by volunteers, both skilled and unskilled. Whether you are a contractor or have never picked up a hammer in your life, we can use your help. All the equipment and safety gear you need for the day is provided and no previous experience is necessary. Orientations take place at the start of each shift.

CREW LEADERS & CREW TEAM If you have a combination of construction experience, team leadership skills and regular availability, you may be interested in becoming a Crew Leader or Crew Team member. Crew Leaders are an integral part of the Habitat mission. We look for high potential volunteers who would be able to motivate, teach and lead a group of (potentially) inexperienced volunteers in a construction task for the day. Contact Al MacDonald .

GROUP VOLUNTEERING Spending a day on a Habitat build is a great way for companies, community organizations or a group of friends to help make the dream of homeownership a reality for families living in need. What better way to learn the value of team building, co-operation and leadership than by working with your co-workers and peers on a Habitat GB build site? Through our Adopt-A-Day program, we offer an innovative team building experience. Check out our group volunteering options or contact for more information.

RESTORE VOLUNTEER Do you like hanging out at your local hardware store? Are you interested in customer service? Or are you looking for a way to complete your student volunteer hours? Join our ReStore communities that sell new and gently-used renovation and household material. Volunteers assist with preparing merchandise for resale, receiving donations and customer service. Contact your local ReStore in Hanover, Owen Sound or Port Elgin.

SALVAGE CREW This is a hands on deconstruction team that goes in to various neighborhoods across the counties to remove kitchens, doors, windows, bathrooms and more from donors homes for resale in our ReStores. Always interesting and never in the same place. Time and location requirements vary. If you have some construction knowledge or are willing to learn—this could be for you! To join, contact Ken Button at the Owen Sound ReStore.

OFFICE VOLUNTEER & INTERNSHIPS Our office has exciting opportunities for recent graduates, students, retirees, and working professionals.

COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS Our committee members contribute invaluable ideas, industry experience, and support to Habitat GB. Several current committees include Family Selection, Faith Advisory Council, Food, Volunteer, Land Development and Fundraising. All positions are posted here.

GLOBAL VILLAGE PROGRAM Global Village trips take place around the world and can be a life changing experience. It’s an opportunity to gain a greater understanding of development issues, to learn more about another culture and about yourself. You will be more than a tourist as you are welcomed into the community by your hosts and introduced to the local culture as a guest. You will work together, share stories, and make friends.
